The OSC24VAC ceiling mount is a low-profile panoramic PIR Detector running on standard 24VAC to provide up to 8 m coverage.

This passive infrared detector is designed to monitor a room and to transmit presence to a BMS via a dry contact
signal.

The 24VAC/DC operation makes the OSC24VA 100% compatible with standard BMS voltage system without any external power supply conversion.

This detector is suitable for occupancy detection of residential, factories, warehouses and office building.

Please consult the BMS and Stand alone load control for more usage details.

Terminal Block

Relay contacts

Note about the signal contact

The signal contact is a dry contact, therefore it is not outputting any voltage or current .

The contact only closes upon detection, for a minimum of 2-3 sec or until the detection LED is turns OFF.

There is no time base ajustement.
If you intent to use this to control a load, please refer to the BMS or Stand alone load control configuration sections below.

The relay output can be normally open (NO) or normally closed  (NC)  by selecting the proper jumper setting

To set the N.C. or  N.O. output type according to the BMC

Short 1&2: for  N.O

Short 2&3 for : N.C.

Default is N.C  (jumper on 2&3)

N.O. is open when no movement is detected

N.C. is closed when no movement is detected

Relay contact are rated at 100ma  28V AC-DC

LED Jumper

Will enable or disable the LED

Short 1&2: for LED on

Short 1&2: for LED Off

Default is 1&2

WARNING : When LED is disabled, there will not be any light to show the sensor is working.

Pulse Jumper:

The Pulse jumper is used to adjust the sensitivity and anti- interference

Selecting the numbers of IR pulses required to trigger a valid alarm

(Normally not changed unless detection interference are present.)

Short  1&2 for pulse sensitivity

Short  2&3 for 2 pulse sensitivity

Open (none) for 3 pulse sensitivity

Default is 1&2

Testing

After the device is powered up, (If the LED jumper is on position 1&2 the LED indicator will turn on)

IMPORTANT

For proper testing , the lens cover must be fully attached to the base

Testing without the lens cover will not work as the unit initializes itself and adjust the parameter in a learn fonction

Step 1

Power the unit

Step 2

Wait for one minute

On power up, the detector will be in self-test for approximately a minute (60 sec.)

After the self-diagnostic is over, the detector will start in normal operating.

Step 3

Proceed to a walk test as a normal user would need to be detected.

If enabled, the red LED will flash every time it is detecting motion.

BMS hookup

The OSC24VAC can be hooked up to many BMS systems

The most common usage is along with a VAV controller.

Contact to ground

If your VAV controller has a binary input that uses an NO/NC to ground contact for detection of state ( like in figure 1)

You can use the 24VAC from the VAV controller and route the ground signal to one of the the NO or NC contact.

The other side of the relay will return to the VAV controller input.

Set the NO/NC jumper on the OSC24VAC as per required by your BMS equipment

Ensure polarity is respected if your 24VAC power transformer is grounded

Dry Contact

If your BMS system uses a totally isolated signal that shorts 2 wires that are not connected to the controller ground (like in figure 2) You will need 4 conductors between the OSC24 and your BMS equipment

2 conductors for the 24VAV

2 conductors for the NO or NC contact

Polarity is irrelevant as the output relay is isolated from the power source.

There is a multitude of other way to connect to a BMS including the use of pull up or pull down resistors or adding a define resistor on the BMS input and shorting it with the dry contact.

In this configuration, the BMS must be programmed to get a trigger signal when the input is shorted.
Note that the OSC24 can be configured in NC , and therefor, you can reverse this function if required.

Stand alone load control configuration

In the example below, a time delay OFF relay is used to keep a load ON for the set time period of the relay module.

The motion sensor sends a pulse to the S (signal) input in order to trigger a start.

This particular Time delay will reset it's time base every time it receives a pulse on its input.

EX:

If the time base of the relay is set to 5 minutes, it will turn ON at the first pulse of the sensor and will stay ON until the 5 minutes is overt.
Every time there is new pulse signal, while the relay is ON, it resets the timer and keeps the load ON.

NOTE
We do not sell or support the time delay.
